Wheatland Steel acquires CO2 laser system

Wheatland Steel Processing, Wheatland, Pa., has acquired a Cincinnati CL707 CO2 laser cutting system. It incorporates a high-speed linear motor drive, motion control systems, electronics, beam delivery, fiber-optics communications, and software technology. The system cuts a variety of materials and products to tolerances of +/- 0.001 to +/- 0.007 in. It is suitable for use on large parts, batch processing of smaller parts, and prototype work.

The system can handle a 5- by 10-ft. piece of steel. It cuts 0.875-in. carbon steel and 0.5-in. aluminum and stainless steel.
