Advance Mfg. celebrates 50th anniversary

Advance Mfg. Co. Inc., Westfield, Mass., marks 50 years in the precision machining industry in 2011. Founded by Tony Amanti in 1961 with $10,000, a handful of employees, and a few machines, the firm now employs nearly 200 at its 120,000-sq.-ft. facility and remains family-owned and -operated.

Initially serving industries such as power generation, aviation, and the U.S. Department of Defense, the company expanded into the business of semiconductors, became a resource for NASA, and obtained a patent for a hydraulic torque wrench for use in the assembly (and disassembly) of jet engines.

Currently managed by three generations of the Amanti family, the company provides precision machining; specialized, certified welding fabrications; nondestructive testing; induction heat treating; and complex and upper-level parts assemblies.
