Dorner marks 50 years in business

Low-profile conveyor manufacturer Dorner Mfg., Hartland, Wis., celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016.

The firm was founded Jan. 14, 1966, as a tool and die shop by brothers Wolfgang and Horst Dorner. It transitioned to conveyors in the early 1970s when the Dorners were looking for a conveyor to remove scrap and parts from under their dies and couldn’t find one to fit in such a tight space. They developed and patented a radial thrust bearing and obtained flexible, durable belting, leading to the introduction of the 4100 series industrial conveyor in 1973.
