Miller Edge partners with CPL

Miller Edge, West Grove, Pa., has pledged its support of Canine Partners for Life (CPL), a nationally recognized service dog organization.

The mission of CPL is to increase the independence and quality of life for individuals with mobility impairments by providing professionally trained service dogs and support services. Recipients who benefit from this program are those who have muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, spinal bifida, cerebral palsy, and polio, for example.

Roseanne Ortega, a Miller employee, has been working with the CPL since 2004. "Our job is to provide a temporary home for the puppy and expose the dog to everyday experiences and situations while teaching them basic obedience training," Ortega said.

The puppy arrives at a home when it is approximately seven weeks old and is kept for about one year until it is handed over to CPL trainers for more advanced training.
