- Metals/Materials
Roof and wall panels from Metal Sales™, Louisville, Ky., will be showcased on the 2014 Greenbuild LivingHome demonstration home at the 2014 Greenbuild International Expo in New Orleans, Oct. 22-23. The 1,550-sq.-ft. modular home meets LEED® for Home Platinum requirements and will be available to tour.
The 16-in.-wide vertical seam roof panels are manufactured from 24-ga., acrylic-coated Galvalume®. According to the company, they offer a long life span, are 100 percent recyclable, and contain a high percentage of recycled content. Their tall, narrow seam is suitable for attaching solar photovoltaic systems.
The soffit panels are 12 in. wide, made of 24-ga. material in the company’s linen white color with a PVDF finish. They are ENERGY STAR® listed and certified by the Cool Roof Rating Council. The panels also contribute to LEED points in both steep-slope and low-slope applications. The linen white color finish provides .83 solar reflectance — 89 in the solar reflectance index.
After the exposition, the home will be placed permanently on a Make It Right site in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward to aid ongoing Katrina recovery efforts.
