Acero Prime announces investment in Ramos Arizpe, Coah. Mexico

Acero Prime, in a joint venture between Feralloy Corp., U.S. Steel, and Mitsui USA, has announced an investment to expand operations at its Ramos Arizpe, Mexico facility.

The investment includes 55,000 sq. ft. of building expansion and the acquisition of a new multi-blanking Line to service the appliance and automotive industry in Mexico.

Features included in the new equipment are: capability to handle 72-in. wide and 30-metric-ton coils and an auto-adjusted two-cassette leveler.

Acero Prime's current infrastructure, including 4-32 Ton overhead cranes, rail spur capacity, real-time EDI capability, and skilled personnel, will support the new services to be offered with this investment.

Expansion completion and start-up of the new equipment is expected by November 2010.

Acero Prime is a metals processor and logistics management company that services the automotive, appliance, and other demanding industries. It operates three plants in Mexico located in San Luis Potosi, Ramos Arizpe, and Toluca.
