AK Steel announces executive promotions

AK Steel, a producer of flat-rolled carbon, stainless, and electrical steel products in West Chester, Ohio, has announced the promotions of two employees to vice president.

Brian K. Bishop has been named vice president, carbon steel operations. He also assumes responsibility for manufacturing planning. Bishop, who joined the company in 1995 as shift manager in the maintenance department at Middletown Works, has served as director, carbon steel operations since 2015. He holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Michigan Technological University and an MBA from The Ohio State University.

Michael A. Kercsmar has been named vice president, specialty steel operations. He also assumes responsibility for quality assurance. Kercsmar has served as director, specialty steel operations since 2015. He joined the company in 1997 as shift manager in the cold strip mill at Middletown Works. He holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from The Ohio State University.
