Alcan opens fabricating plant

Alcan Inc. today announced the opening of its automotive bumper fabricating plant in Saguenay, Quebec. At full capacity, the plant will have an annual production capability of one million bumper beams.

The plant is the second step in the company's plan to build a new market for aluminum structural assemblies in the North American market. This effort also involves a sister plant already in place in Novi, Mich. The two facilities will work together as an integrated operation.
