Alcoa named to Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes

For the 13th year in a row, Alcoa, New York, has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI). The firm also was again recognized as the aluminum industry leader on the Dow Jones World Index.

Earlier this year Alcoa announced that 2013 was its safest, most environmentally efficient year on record. There were no employee fatalities, and workplace injuries were down 30 percent. The company reduced its greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 25.5 percent from the 2005 baseline, and lowered absolute emissions by 3.1 million metric tons. It also introduced bonding technology to enable lightweight, efficient, aluminum-intensive vehicles.
