Chaparral Steel announces appointment of vice presidents

Chaparral Steel Co., Midlothian, Texas, has announced the appointment of 11 vice presidents in conjunction with its spin-off from Texas Industries Inc.

Cary D. Baetz has been elected vice president and treasurer. He joined Texas Industries in 1997 and held various positions, including senior financial analyst, corporate financial manager, and director of corporate finance.

Timothy J. Bourcier has been elected vice president — operations. He joined Texas Industries in 2001 and held positions as vice president and plant manager and vice president of operations for Chaparral Steel. Since 2004 he has been vice president — steel operations. Before joining the company, Bourcier held various positions with North Star Steel Corp., most recently as general manager — Michigan facility.

Daniel Brock has been appointed vice president — human resources. He joined Texas Industries in 1997 as regional HR manager and transferred to Chaparral in 1999 as director of human resources. He has worked in HR-related capacities for more than 20 years.

Robert E. Crawford Jr. has been elected vice president, secretary, and general counsel. He joined the company from the law firm Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C., Dallas.

William H. Dickert has been elected vice president — marketing and sales. He joined Texas Industries in 1973. He has held various positions in the organization, including general sales/marketing manager, general manager and vice president — concrete. Since 2001 he has been vice president — marketing and sales for Chaparral Steel.

J. Celtyn Hughes has been elected vice president and CFO. He joined Texas Industries in 1979. He held various positions in the organization, including vice president — package prducts. He was appointed vice president — logistics and steel finance in 1998.

Richard T. Jaffre has been elected vice president — raw materials. He joined Texas Industries in 1974, when he was appointed vice president — raw materials.

M. Kevin Linch has been elected vice president — controller. He joined the company in 1990 and has been controller for the past five years. Before that he served in various positions, including controller of the structural products business unit and assistant controller.

Von Mundy has been appointed vice president — procurement and logistics. He joined Texas Industries in 1994. He has held various positions in the organization, including senior financial analyst, operational controller, and general manager — cement treated materials. Most recently he was director — transportation and purchasing.

Joe Prusa has been appointed vice president — tax and audit. He joined the company in 1985. He has been tax manager since 1998.

Robert Simcoe has been appointed vice president — Virginia Plant manager. He joined Texas Industries in 1974 and has held positions in melting, casting, and rolling operations. Since 2000 he has served as vice president — plant manager for the Virginia Steel operations.
