Commercial Metals announces promotions

Irving, Texas-based Commercial Metals Co., a manufacturer, recycler, and marketer of steel and metal products, has promoted Barbara R. Smith to the position of COO and Mary A. Lindsey to the position of vice president/CFO.

Smith has been the company's senior vice president and CFO since May 2011. She is responsible for the direction and coordination of the company’s CMC Americas and CMC International divisions. She previously worked as vice president/CFO of Gerdau Ameristeel, senior vice president/CFO of Faro Technologies, and in various financial leadership positions at Alcoa. Smith, who is a CPA, has a degree in accounting from Purdue University.

Lindsey joined the company in September 2009 as vice president-tax and became vice president-tax and investor relations in 2015. Before joining the company, she served as vice president tax and tax counsel for Albany Intl. Corp., as an attorney at Baker and Hostetler, and in various roles at The Timken Co. Lindsey has bachelor’s degrees in Russian and political science and a JD from State University of New York, as well as an LLM in taxation from Case Western Reserve University.
