Constellium researchers win Air and Space Academy Award

Constellium N.V., Amsterdam, has announced that three of its researchers have received the Medal of the Academy from the Air and Space Academy (AAE), Toulouse, France, for their achievement in developing Airware® aluminum. The award recognizes individuals who significantly contribute to progress in the aerospace industry.

The winning researchers are Timothy Warner, knowledge director and metallurgy group manager; Alireza Arbab, project manager; and Bruno Chenal, strategic innovation director.

Airware has a low alloy density and material properties that allow optimization of structural designs, which leads to an overall weight reduction and a drop in CO2 emissions, the company reports. Resistant to fatigue and corrosion, the material is endlessly recyclable without any loss of properties.
