Gallatin Steel announces general manager for hot rolling

Gallatin Steel, Ghent, Ky., has promoted John Volmer to general manager for hot rolling. He replaces Denis Desjardin, who resigned last year.

Volmer is responsible for all day-to-day operations in the company's Rolling Mill Dept., reporting to Gallatin Steel President Don Daily. He joined the company in 1994, was promoted to process manager for maintenance in 1998, and was promoted again in 2002 to process manager for hot rolling operations. Before joining the company, he worked for General Electric Aircraft Engines. Volmer has a degree in computer-integrated manufacturing engineering technology.

Employing 450 workers, Gallatin Steel produces flat-rolled carbon steel.
