Gallatin Steel Co announces organizational changes

Gallatin Steel, Ghent, Ky., has announced that Tobin Pospisil, current chief financial officer and general manager of Administration and Finance, has been promoted to the position of president of Gallatin Steel Co. Pospisil succeeds Don Daily, who passed away after a brief illness. He will report to Louis Schorsch of ArcelorMittal and Mario Longhi of Gerdau Ameristeel, executives with Gallatin Steel's two parent corporations.

Pospisil is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and holds an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Before joining Gallatin in 2003, he spent thirteen years with GS Industries in Charlotte, North Carolina. "Although we are all saddened by the recent passing of Don Daily, we are confident that Tobin will be an outstanding successor as he undertakes a transition for which Don and the Gallatin Board had been preparing him for the past several months," commented Schorsch and Longhi.

Chuck Greene, Gallatin's general manager Steel Making, has assumed the new position of general manager of Operations. Greene will have responsibility for the melt shop, caster, rolling mill, raw materials, and plant services, along with Gallatin's cut-to-length operation, Ghent Steel Industries. Greene began his career at Gallatin in 1995, having worked for five years with Tippins Inc. He holds a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

Mark Santen, general manager of Purchasing, has been promoted to general manager Administration. He will have overall responsibility for finance, purchasing, human resources, and information systems. Santen, a 13-year employee of the company, worked for 10 years in the Commercial Department. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and holds an MBA from Xavier University.

Sarah Zimmerman has assumed the new position of general manager Finance. Zimmerman was an accountant with Mayer Parry Recycling in Kent, England for six years. She began her career with Gallatin in 1997, and has held positions of increasing responsibility in the company's Accounting Department. She has served as the company's controller since 2003.
