Heidtman Steel to open facility in Indiana

Toledo, Ohio-based Heidtman Steel is nearing completion of a new slitting facility in East Chicago, Ind. Full production is expected by October.

The 120,000-sq.-ft. facility houses an Alcos brand AHSS slitter that handles material from 0.015 to 0.250 in. thick in widths up to 78 in. The line handles coils up to 70,000 lbs. and 84 in. dia. The line also can precision-slit a variety of carbon flat-rolled steel products, including surface-critical HRPO, cold rolled, galvanized, galvannealed, and Galvalume®.
