Hot-rolled band prices down in U.S., world market; up in China

SteelBenchmarker™reported that the hot-rolled band (HRB) world export price for Sept. 11 declined $9 per ton to $545 per ton versus the Aug. 28 report. The U.S. HRB spot price fell $5 to $675 per ton from $687 per ton FOB the mill. Western Europe HRB ex-works price was unchanged at $609 per ton, and the Chinese HRB ex-works price increased $11 to $390 per ton.

The four benchmark prices for hot-rolled band included in the report are:

  • U.S. — $75 per metric ton, FOB the mill (down $5 per ton, or 0.7%, from $680 two weeks ago, but up $57 per ton, or 9%, from April 10).
  • World Export Price — $545 per metric ton, FOB the port of export (down $9 per ton, or 1.6%, versus $554 on Aug. 28, but up $28 per ton, or 5%, since April).
  • Western Europe — $609 per metric ton, FOB the port of export (unchanged from Aug. 28, but up $11 per ton, or 2%, since May.
  • China — $390 per metric ton, ex-works (up $11 per ton, or 2.9%, from $379 two weeks ago, but still down $12 per ton, or 3% since April 10).
