Kennametal raises more than half-million dollars for United Way

Latrobe, Pa.-based Kennametal Inc. has announced that it raised more than $570,000 in support of the United Way and its agencies during the company's 2010 United Way Campaign.

Of the total, $328,488 was pledged by more than 900 employees throughout Kennametal facilities nationwide. More than $146,000 was raised through the company's annual Strategic Supplier Golf Outing and other special events, and $40,000 was contributed by the Kennametal Foundation. A donation of $56,191 from the Richard King Mellon Foundation Matching Program brought the final total to more than $570,000.

Kennametal's fundraising efforts will benefit United Way agencies throughout the United States where the company's employees work and live.

"Giving back to the communities where we work and live is an important part of the culture at Kennametal," said Chairman, President, and CEO Carlos Cardoso. "We are always proud to assist the United Way, which performs so much good work in these communities, and proud of our employees for showing such commitment to neighbors who may be in need."
