Monarch Steel adds light-gauge slitter to Alabama facility

Monarch Steel Co. Inc., a Cleveland-based supplier of flat hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, and coated products, has increased the production capacity of its Decatur, Ala., facility with the addition of a light-gauge slitter. The new slitting line adds significant capability to slit cold-rolled and galvanized products from 0.020 in. to 0.135 in. thick and 1 in. to 60 in. wide.

The Decatur service center now has slitting, multiblanking, and cut-to-length capabilities and offers customers in the Southeast hot-rolled, hot-rolled pickled and oiled, cold-rolled, and coated products 0.020 in. through 0.530 in. and up to 75 in. wide.

In addition, "This new slitter will allow customers to benefit from quicker delivery and transportation cost savings," explained Josh Kaufman, owner.
