MSCI, Basic Metals host senator for plant tour, policy discussion

The Wisconsin Chapter of the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) recently hosted Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., for a plant tour at Basic Metals, Germantown, Wis., and discussion of the economy and the metals service industry’s policy agenda.

“We discussed the importance of comprehensive tax reform, an all-of-the-above energy policy and our industry’s key regulatory concerns,” said MSCI President and CEO Bob Weidner. “It was a candid discussion in which Sen. Johnson heard the concerns of business owners, employees, and other members of the community as well.”

Johnson highlighted five ways to make the U.S. an attractive place for business risk-taking and expansion: a simplified tax structure, a competitive regulatory environment, using U.S. energy resources, fixing the deficit, and changing our health care structure.
