Novelis supplies aluminum for 2016 Cadillac CT6

Novelis Inc. has announced that its aluminum is used in the new 2016 Cadillac CT6® body. The new mixed-material vehicle construction featured in the CT6 is the first of its kind for General Motors in North America and China.

The Novelis plant in Kingston, Ont., supplies GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant in Detroit, while its plant in Changzhou, China, supplies GM's Shanghai plant, which produces the CT6 manufactured locally in China.

The car’s body is made of 62 percent aluminum, making the full-size luxury sedan comparable in weight to the smaller midsize Cadillac CTS sedan. When compared to a similar-size vehicle using predominantly high-strength steel, the CT6 is about 220 lbs. lighter.
