Novelis, ThyssenKrupp Tailored Blanks to cooperate on tailored aluminum blank production

Novelis, an Atlanta-based aluminum recycler and provider of aluminum rolled products, and ThyssenKrupp Tailored Blanks, Duisburg, Germany, a manufacturer of customized steel products for the automotive industry, have signed a cooperation agreement for the development of tailored aluminum blanks.

With this technology, individual aluminum sheets of different grades, thicknesses, and coatings can be joined to produce customized stamping blanks used by carmakers for the production of lightweight body parts such as doors and hoods, and structural components including cross members and longitudinal members.
