Nucor Building Systems earns VPP certification

August 22, 2013

Nucor Building Systems (NBS) Texas facility, Terrell, Texas, has received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status by the U.S. Department of Labor's OSHA. OSHA's VPP is a self-managed safety regulatory compliance program intended to identify corporate leaders in occupational safety and health.

As of Aug. 14, 2013, the NBS team had worked 2,262 days without a lost-time injury. With injury rates lower than the industry average, the company also voluntarily implemented comprehensive strategy and health programs that go beyond minimal governmental regulations. Essential elements of the VPP evaluation consist of management leadership, employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard recognition and control, outreach and mentoring with other businesses, and safety and health training.

Nucor Building Systems manufactures metal building systems for the industrial, commercial, warehouse, community, and agricultural markets.
