Pro-Tec Coating appoints president

Leipsic, Ohio-based Pro-Tec Coating Co., a 50/50 joint venture between United States Steel Corp. and Kobe Steel Ltd., has named Richard E. Veitch as president. The company provides coated flat-rolled steel primarily to the automotive industry.

Veitch joined U.S. Steel full time in 1985 as a turn foreman in Gary Works' cold rolling mill. He joined National Steel in 1996, which was acquired by U.S. Steel in 2003. He has held numerous positions with the company since then, most recently serving as general manager of U. S. Steel Granite City Works. Veitch has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in management from Purdue University.
