RTI Intl. Metals acquires Directed Mfg.

RTI Intl. Metals Inc., Pittsburgh, has acquired Directed Mfg. Inc., a provider of additive manufacturing, or 3-D printing, of metals and plastics for commercial production and engineering development applications. RTI expects the transaction to improve its ability to deliver titanium and other materials to the aerospace and medical device markets.

Based in Austin, Texas, Directed Mfg., doing business as RTI Directed Mfg. Inc., is the flagship organization in RTI’s advanced additive product line. It produces complex products using titanium, nickel-chromium alloys, and other specialty metals and composite plastics. The company uses direct metal laser sintering and plastic laser sintering systems.

RTI Intl. Metals is a vertically integrated global supplier of advanced titanium and specialty metal products and services to the commercial aerospace, defense, energy, and medical device markets.
