STI-SPFA announces 2015 Steel Fabricated Product of the Year Awards

Lake Zurich, Ill.-based STI-SPFA, a nonprofit trade association representing fabricators of steel storage tanks, water pipe, and pressure vessels, has recognized member companies in 14 product categories with its Steel Fabricated Product of the Year Awards for 2015.

Member companies submitted 49 entries for the awards, using a total of 22,450 tons of steel. To determine the winners, all association members assessed each entry by anonymous ballot, based on promotional value, uniqueness of the product or project, design and engineering, and aesthetics.

Winners of Field Erected Storage Tank of the Year Awards are:

  • API 650 Atmospheric Storage Tank: Paso Robles Tank, Hemet, Calif.
  • API 620 Low-pressure Liquid Storage Tank: CBI, New Castle, Del.
  • Reservoir Storage Tank: Paso Robles Tank, Hemet, Calif.
  • Elevated Storage Tank: Caldwell Tanks, Louisville, Ky.
  • Standpipe Storage Tank: Caldwell Tanks, Louisville, Ky.
  • SME Pressure Vessel Storage Tank: CB&I, Houston
  • Special Storage Tank: CB&I, Calgary, Alta.

Winners of Fabricated Product of the Year Awards are:

  • Special Fabrication: Modern Welding of Georgia, Augusta, Ga.
  • Atmospheric Storage Tank: AGI Envirotank, Biggar, Sask.
  • Pressure Vessel of the Year: Boardman LLC, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Winners of Steel Water Pipe Project of the Year Awards are:

  • Steel Pipe Fabrication: Mid-America Pipe, Scammon, Kan.
  • Steel Water Pipeline Project: JIFCO, Livermore, Calif.
  • Steel Water Pipe Affiliate Product/Project: National Welding Corp., Midvale, Utah

The winner of the Affiliate New Product of the Year Award is Sherwin-Williams Co., Indianapolis.

The top-producing U.S. STI-labeled tank manufacturer in 2015 was Watco Tanks, Floresville, Texas. The Steel Tank Institute licenses several tank technologies.
