The Aluminum Association announces award winners

The Aluminum Association, Arlington, Va., has announced that Mike Zoll, director of safety at Novelis, has received the Marlan Boultinghouse Award for industry leadership, and Dick Schultz, managing director at Ducker Worldwide, has received the newly created Chairman's Award, which recognizes a nonindustry employee who has made a positive impact by educating the public about the importance of aluminum.

Zoll has worked for many years to improve the industry's overall safety programs. He serves on the association's Casthouse Safety Workshop Steering Committee, which helps determine the strategic direction of a program that educates hundreds of industry workers each year on plant safety best practices. He also is the longtime editor of the association publication on safe handling of molten aluminum.

Schultz is the primary author of several independent studies showing the growing importance of aluminum in the automotive industry. Before joining Ducker, he spent many years in the metals industry as a metallurgical engineer, first with LTV Steel and later with Alcoa, where he led the Alcoa Automotive Group expansion to meet automotive industry needs in North America and Europe.
