TimkenSteel named Steel Producer of the Year by American Metal Market

TimkenSteel, Canton, Ohio, a provider of customized alloy steel products and services, has earned two American Metal Market Awards for Steel Excellence. The firm was named Steel Producer of the Year, and it also won in the Best Innovation, Process category for its new $200 million jumbo bloom vertical caster.

According to the company, the caster is the biggest continuous vertical bloom caster in the world and the only one of its kind in North America. It produces sections of special bar quality (SBQ) steel that measures up to 18 by 24 in., referred to as jumbo blooms, that are later rolled into bars and tubes.
