U.S. Steel executives to retire in February

United States Steel Corporation Chairman and CEO John P. Surma has announced that Dan D. Sandman has elected to retire in February 2007 as the company's vice chairman and chief legal and administrative officer and general counsel as well as from the company's board of directors.

Stephan K. Todd, vice president-law and environmental affairs, also has elected to retire in February.

James D. Garraux has been elected general counsel and senior vice president-labor relations and environmental affairs, effective Feb. 1, 2007. Garraux will join U. S. Steel's Executive Management Committee at that same time. Thomas W. Sterling, senior vice president-human resources and business services, has been elected senior vice president-administration, effective Feb. 1, 2007.

Terrence D. Straub, senior vice president-public policy and governmental affairs, will report directly to Surma. Craig D. Mallick has been elected secretary of the corporation and will report to Garraux.
