World, U.S., Western Europe hot-rolled band prices decline

SteelBenchmarker™reported that the hot-rolled band (HRB) world export price for Aug. 28 declined $16 per ton to $554 per ton from $570 per ton, FOB the port of export, on Aug. 14. The U.S. spot price fell to $680 per ton from $687 per ton on Aug. 14.

The four benchmark prices for hot-rolled band included in the report are:

  • U.S. — $680 per metric ton, FOB the mill (down $7 per ton, or 1%, from $687 two weeks ago, but still up $62 per ton, or 10%, from April 10).
  • World Export Price — $554 per metric ton, FOB the port of export (down $16 per ton, or 3%, versus $570 on Aug. 14, but up $37 per ton, or 7%, since April).
  • Western Europe — $609 per metric ton, FOB the port of export (down $22 per ton, or 3.5%, versus $631 on July 24, but up $11 per ton, or 2%, since May 8.
  • China — $379 per metric ton, ex-works (up $2 per ton, or 0.5%, from $377 two weeks ago, but still down $23 per ton, or 6% since April 10).
