- Laser Cutting
Prima North America, the North American subsidiary of Prima Industries S.p.A., Torino, Italy, a manufacturer of industrial laser systems, has announced the promotion of Terry VanderWert to senior vice president and general manager.
Making the announcement, Dr. Paulo Cigna, president and CEO, said, "In his new position, VanderWert will be responsible for all aspects of engineering, sales and marketing, manufacturing, and customer service for all businesses (divisions) of our company. This organizational change will help ensure a smooth transition to the management team that was put in place during my last five-year tenure as president and CEO of the company, along with other profound changes made after the acquisitions of Convergent Energy and the Laserdyne business, amid the general economy recession of the years 2001 – 2002."
VanderWert rejoined Laserdyne at the beginning of 2003, where he previously served for more than 15 years, as vice president in charge of this business unit within Prima North America.
He has held a number of management positions with Laserdyne in his 18-year career with the company. During that time, he was responsible for introducing many of the company's BeamDirector® products. A licensed professional engineer, VanderWert has held management positions in metallurgical research. He has a master's degree in metallurgy and materials science from the University of Minnesota.
