December 11, 2007

TRUMPF, Farmington, Conn., has completed its 500th TruPunch 2020 machine. The model, which was built in 2001, was a design concept of Peter Leibinger, TRUMPF vice president of the management board and head of the Laser Technology and Electronics division. The company plans to export the 500th TruPunch 2020 machine, which was completed in mid-October, to a sheet metal fabrication company in India.

The company says the machine allows operators to produce single pieces as quickly as in small and medium-sized runs. It allows a maximum sheet thickness of 0.25 in. and has a 20-ton maximum punching force. The C axis runs at 3 RPS, and the maximum stroke rate punching is 900 1/SPM. The machine also offers various forming capabilities, including wheel forming, tapping, rapid part-marking, deburring, and bending. An automatic load and unload feature is designed to increase productivity and decrease downtime, the company reports.
