Watlow installs special punching machine

Hannibal, Mo.-based Watlow, a producer of electric heaters, temperature sensors, power controllers, temperature controllers, and supporting software, has installed the thousandth TruPunch 1000 punching machine manufactured at the TRUMPF factory in Hettingen, Germany.

The entry-level machine is used to produce sheet metal parts for the company’s electric heating elements. It can produce items from simple perforated sheet metal parts to complex-shaped and labeled workpieces involving numerous forming processes. The linear magazine, designed to hold up to 18 tools, can be prepped in advance. The machine’s 360-degree tool rotation allows the punching head to rotate any tool to any required angle, regardless of the tool’s shape, size, or position in the magazine.
