Roll forming method simplifies curved part production

The Swedish company Ortic, together with Bemo of Germany, has developed a new method of roll forming steel sections. Dubbed Monroe, the method uses high-precision computer control and infinitely adjustable rollers to fabricate curved sides, conical shapes, and variable profiles.
Applications include vehicle cabin A and B pillar production and curved impact protection bars, including those made from extra-high- or ultrahigh strength steel.
According to the company, the machine achieves tight bending radii and reduces cracking and defects.
