Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology Inc. (CCAT) will host a laser safety officer training program at the CCAT Innovation Center in East Hartford, Conn. The program, being presented by the LaserVision Academy on Nov. 16-18, 2010, is designed for individuals using or working with lasers in manufacturing, research, or educational settings that have been assigned the role of laser safety officer.
The course will teach attendees to develop a laser safety program and understand laser terminology, hazard evaluation, and control measures. Attendees will learn about laser laws and the regulations and requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).
