Solar Atmospheres of Western PA receives SHARP accreditation

June 14, 2011

Solar Atmospheres of Western PA, a provider of vacuum heat-treating and brazing services in Hermitage, Pa., has received Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) accreditation, the highest safety designation that OSHA gives to small businesses.

An OSHA consultant performed a comprehensive consultation, including a hazard survey, at the company. The consultant reviewed his findings and suggested corrections with management so Solar could implement and maintain a health and safety system addressing OSHA's guidelines. In addition, the days away, restricted, or transferred (DART) and total recordable case (TRC) rates for Solar had to be below the national average for the heat-treating industry.
