AP: U.S. pledges $5 billion to support auto parts suppliers

The Associated Press has reported that the U.S. government will lend major auto-parts makers $5.0 billion through its Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) as compensation for merchandise they have shipped to carmakers for which they have not been paid. The AP cited congressional aides who had been briefed on the plan.
