BAE to close facility in Pennsylvania

BAE Systems, a military equipment manufacturer in the U.K., has announced plans to close its Fayette facility in Lemont Furnace, Pa., by the end of 2013. The facility overhauls and upgrades military equipment, mainly Bradley fighting vehicles and M109 self-propelled howitzers.

The company decided to close the plant in response to the planned completion of existing contracts managed at the site and no prospect of future work for the facility. The 113 employees will be offered opportunities at other sites.
