Belden Universal wins two manufacturing awards for aerospace universal joints

Broadview, Ill.-based Belden Universal, a manufacturer of custom universal joints and mechanical power transmission products, has won the 2016 Manufacturing Leadership Award: Engineering & Production Technology category from Frost & Sullivan, as well as the 2016 Golden Mousetrap Award in the Materials & Assembly: Fastening, Joining & Assembly Components category from Design News.

Belden received both awards for its development of AS9100C custom universal joints for aircraft high lift actuation systems. The development of these components required exceptional design engineering capabilities supported by advanced Manufacturing 4.0 technologies, reports the company, resulting in a product that meets or surpasses stringent aerospace quality requirements.
