BTD acquires Impulse Manufacturing

Detroit Lakes, Minn.-based BTD Mfg. Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Otter Tail Corp., has acquired Impulse Mfg., a metal fabricator in Dawsonville, Ga. Ron Baysden, Impulse founder and president, will retire at the conclusion of the transaction.

Impulse offers services from simple laser cutting services and high-volume stamping to complex weldments and assemblies for metal fabrication buyers and OEMs of all types. The company employs 220 people, whom BTD plans to retain.

BTD provides custom metalwork services, including fabrication, forming, welding, tool and die, machining, powder coating, prototyping, laser cutting, robotic welding, stamping, cutting, and EDM.
