Caterpillar opens Georgia plant
Caterpillar Inc. has opened a $200 million manufacturing plant near Athens, Ga., for manufacturing mini hydraulic excavators. Currently employing about 300 workers, the 1 million-sq.-ft. plant is expected to be fully staffed with 1,400 employees by 2015.
Based in Illinois, Caterpillar also has facilities in Griffin, LaGrange, and Thomasville, Ga.
