CCAT installs 3-D multimaterial printer

Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology Inc. (CCAT) has expanded its capabilities for additive manufacturing at its Advanced Manufacturing Center with the installation of a multijet, multimaterial rapid prototyping machine from 3D Systems.

The ProJet 5500X printer can build parts up to 21 by 15 by 12 in. It can be used for a variety of applications, including fixtures, overmolded parts, multimaterial assemblies, rubber-like components, and prototypes.

CCAT, an economic development organization based in East Hartford, Conn., leads partnerships among industry, academia, and government to create collaborations for tackling economic challenges.
