Deere to expand manufacturing capacity for large tractors

Deere & Co., Moline, Ill., will invest $70 million to expand the manufacturing capacity in its Waterloo, Iowa, operations, where the company builds large farm tractors.

The expansion will increase capacity by more than 10 percent by the middle of 2013. When the improvements are completed, enhancements to the Waterloo facility since 2002 will have increased manufacturing capacity for the large tractors by more than 50 percent.

Tractors built at the plant, which employs about 6,000 people, are shipped to more than 130 countries each year.
