Durable goods orders up 1.8 percent in May

New orders for U.S. manufactured goods rose by a stronger-than-expected 1.8 percent in May.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast that orders would decline 0.6 percent in May after a revised 1.8 percent rise in April. The May increase was the third durable goods gain in four months.
