Ernest-Spencer buys Topeka Metal Specialties out of bankruptcy

Meriden, Kan.-based Ernest-Spencer has announced that it has purchased Topeka Metal Specialties (TMS), a metal fabricator specializing in industrial cab manufacturing, out of bankruptcy proceedings.

TMS, a competitor of Ernest-Spencer, was owned by Harvey, Ill.-based LB Steel LLC, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2015 following an adverse ruling in a decade-long legal dispute with Walsh Construction relating to the construction of a canopy and curtain wall at Chicago’s O’Hare Intl. Airport.

Ernest-Spencer will add TMS’s 60 skilled employees to its staff of about 200 people.
