First Aluminum Industry Summit coming to NYC in June

The inaugural Aluminum Industry Summit is scheduled to take place June 7 and 8 in New York City. The two-day program, supported by industry publications American Metal Market and Metal Bulletin, will cover the global aluminum supply chain from alumina to end use and will feature speakers and panelists, including 14 chief executives and presidents.

Klaus Kleinfeld, chairman and CEO of Alcoa Inc., will give the keynote address, which will focus on the opportunities and challenges facing the aluminum industry. Phil Martens, president and COO of Novelis, will participate in a live one-on-one interview.

Steve Demetriou, chairman and chief executive of Aleris; Laurent Schmitt, chief executive of Aluminium Co. of Bahrain; and Christel Bories, chief executive of Alcan Engineered Products, will sit on an executive panel to be chaired by former Rio Tinto Alcan Chief Executive Dick Evans.

"Aluminum has tremendous opportunities for growth but also faces some challenges. I anticipate that this will be a very worthwhile forum for aluminum industry players, customers, distributors, and all those who follow and analyze the industry," Evans said.
