Fonon to purchase 1.2-MW clean-energy, renewable power-generating facility

Fonon Corp., Lake Mary, Fla., has signed a term sheet with Rinehart Development and Investment Group LLC for Fonon to acquire an on-site, clean-energy, renewable power-generating facility to support the company’s manufacturing expansion plan. The 1.2-MW solar farm is one of the largest rooftop power-generating facilities in the Southeast.

The 300,000-sq.-ft. photovoltaic facility produces an estimated 1.9 million kWh of electricity annually. Projected savings over the life of the solar farm is $12.5 million, comprising $1 million in tax benefits and $11.5 million in projected revenue.

Wayne Tupuola, vice president of manufacturing, commented, “As we expand our manufacturing footprint representing a future combined total of 274, 000 sq. ft., the company should save up to $50,000 per month in facility expenses."

Fonon provides design, manufacturing, and technology services, including laser marking, laser engraving, laser cutting, and 3-D metal printing, to the aerospace, construction, defense, energy, industrial, photonics, and PV solar industries.
