Ford to invest $700 million in Michigan plant

Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford Motor Co. has announced it will invest $700 million to renovate and expand its assembly plant in Flat Rock, Mich., creating 700 jobs.

The automaker canceled plans to build a new, $1.6 billion assembly plant in Mexico, but will build its next-generation Focus® at its Hermosillo, Mexico, plant.

Currently the Ford Mustang® and Lincoln Continental® are made at the Flat Rock plant. A new, fully electric SUV with a range of at least 300 miles also will be produced at the facility for release by 2020 in North America, Europe, and Asia.
