GE adds two assembly lines to Appliance Park location

GE has added two assembly lines costing more than $100 million to its Appliance Park location in Louisville, Ky., for manufacturing front-load washing machines and dryers. This is the first time the company has produced a front-load washing machine and matching dryer from one of its U.S. plants. The addition has created about 200 jobs.

The start-up of these two lines completes the new product platforms GE committed to bring to Appliance Park in a 2010 announcement that stated it would invest $1 billion to transform its U.S. appliances business and products. Since that announcement, the company has hired 3,000 new employees in Louisville.
