Ironworkers training and apprenticeship center opens in San Diego

Leaders of the California Field Ironworkers Training Trust have cut the ribbon on a $5.5 million apprenticeship training center in San Diego.

The Training Trust, also known as the University of Iron, is the training and apprenticeship program for Ironworkers Local 229 (San Diego). It also has training centers in Sacramento, Calif., and Reno, Nev. (Local 118); Los Angeles and Las Vegas (Locals 416 and 433); Phoenix (Local 75); Fresno, Calif. (Local 155); and Benicia, Calif. (Local 377 San Francisco and Local 378 Oakland, Calif.).

The 10,000-sq.-ft. facility boosts the University of Iron’s apprenticeship program, adding 26 welding booths and three large classrooms.
