J.L. Becker installs car bottom furnaces

J.L. Becker, a Gasbarre Furnace Group company in Plymouth, Mich., has installed two furnace systems for a domestic alloy manufacturer.

The first is a retrofit of an existing 6- by 32- by 3-ft. car bottom furnace with a complete insulation reline, upgraded pulse-fired combustion system with self-recuperative burners, and upgraded furnace controls with data logging. The second is a new, 55,000-lb., 6- by 32- by 3-ft. car bottom furnace with duplicate combustion and control systems.

Operating temperatures of both furnaces are from 900 to 2,000 degrees F and comply with AMS-2750E specifications.
